Six BGHS students have been selected to participate in the 2024 Governor’s Scholars Program: Congratulations to Parker Fields, Ali Greenwell, Elijah Kries, Emma Lindsey, Elek Olson, and Audrey Wallace. 

Five BGHS students have been selected to spend three weeks this summer attending the Governor’s School For the Arts! Way to go Finley Hondorp, Paul Littlepage, Morgan Martin, Peter Tooley, and Grayson Walden.

The Gatton Academy of Mathematics and Science has selected 95 sophomores, including five from Bowling Green High School for the 19th incoming class. BGHS students attending Gatton Academy beginning next year include Trisha Chhabra, Sena Er, Harper Ferrell, Robert Holley, and Neha Reddy.

The Kentucky Board of Education (KBE) presented the 2024 Robinson Award for Diversity and Equity in Public Education to Emily Lehman, a 5th-grade educator for W.R. McNeill Elementary (Bowling Green Independent), at its April 10 meeting.

For the fifth consecutive year, Bowling Green Independent Schools has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The NAMM Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education.

Several BGISD students saw their names on the Wall of Winners and were recognized on stage at the STLP State Championship, held at the Rupp Arena and Central Bank Center March 27, 2024. The competition included submitting and presenting projects, competing in live challenges, and visiting hands-on learning stations as part of a new STLPx (STLP Experience).

Bowling Green Independent Superintendent Gary Fields has announced Sheryl Anderson as the next principal of T. C. Cherry Elementary. She was introduced to students and staff during morning assembly at the school on Friday, March 22, 2024. She will officially begin on July 1, 2024.

Congratulations to Bowling Green students selected for the 2024 KMEA Middle School All-State Choir.

Out of hundreds auditioning, these students have been selected to perform with peers in the first KMEA Middle School All-State Band on March 1st & 2nd. The students in the All-State Band are alumni of all five BGISD Elementary Schools!

Bowling Green students from six schools have advanced to the State STLP finals to be held at Rupp Arena on March 27, 2024. Projects and Creative Digital Arts are among thousands of student submissions judged this year.

The Purple Brew Coffee Shop is open for business. The shop is operated by Bowling Green High School students including daily food and drink preparations, financial transactions and reporting, marketing, and curating the menu. This hands-on experience gives students the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in a real-world setting at school.

The Board of Education approved the 2024-2025 School Calendar on January 8, 2024. The first day of school for K-12 students will be August 13, 2024. The first day for preschool will be August 19, 2024.
