(October 18, 2021) October is National Farm to School Month and over the next several days, all Bowling Green students in preschool - fifth grades will visit Need More Acres Farm in Scottsville, Kentucky. Need More Acres Farm, owned and operated by the Howell family, has been a partner with BGISD for several years, and provides many types of produce to the district throughout the school year and the summer meals program.
While visiting the farm, students will plant their own lettuce plants to take home, feed a cow, walk the vegetable fields, eat pumpkin bread with Chaney’s milk, and make their own “meal kit” to take home and prepare with families.
The trip is made possible by the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Grant, which provides fruit and vegetable snacks to four elementary schools.
