Julie Shelton and Josh Porter have been selected as Assistant Principals of Bowling Green High School. Principal Kyle McGraw made the announcement Monday evening, June 3 to the school's faculty and staff. Both assistant principals are currently serving as school administrators in local school districts and will begin duties in Bowling Green Independent Schools on July 1, 2019.
Julie Shelton is currently the Assistant Principal for Instruction at Allen County-Scottsville High School, a position she has held since 2017. Prior to being named Assistant Principal, Julie served as the school’s Instructional Coach for one year, Math Department Chair for three years, and high school math teacher for 14 years. Her range of teaching experience in math and science ranges from middle school to the university level, including Allen County and Barren County Schools, as well as WKU, Vanderbilt, Lindsey Wilson (Scottsville), and Campbellsville. She has a BA and MA from WKU, as well as doctoral work at Vanderbilt University majoring in Education and Human Development. Certifications include Certified Trainer of Teachers, Rank I, Cognitive Coach, and Principal Certification.
Josh Porter is currently the Principal of Warren Elementary School, a position he has held since 2010. He served as Assistant Principal of the school from 2007 - 2010, and was a business education teacher at Warren Central from 2004 - 2007. Josh earned his teaching certification in 2004, and a Masters in Educational Administration and Principalship in 2006. He has since completed certification for Supervisor of Instruction and Director of Pupil Personnel. Josh serves on the Warren County Public Schools Equity Council and has completed the National Institute of School Leadership Program.
