Thank you to all parents, employees, students, and community members who provided feedback on the 2022-23 calendar proposal. The district received several comments in favor of the later start date, but not in favor of a winter break that was less than two full weeks, or three weekends.
Based on the feedback received, on Monday, January 10th, Superintendent Gary Fields recommended the calendar proposal change to include August 10th as a work day for employees, and the First Day for Students move to Tuesday, August 16th. He also proposed the district will return after the winter break on Monday, January 2nd, 2023, with Winter Break scheduled from December 19 - 30, 2022.
The Board of Education approved the 2022 - 2023 Calendar on Monday, January 10, 2022.

A few additional points to note:
The later start date in August is needed to allow additional time for the Bowling Green High School construction project.
August 2022 will continue to have two payrolls for all employees, but there will be a three-week gap in the summer of 2022 employees who work year-round (not teachers or school-day calendars).
We have a priority to maintain the same number of contract / school days in the calendar. A reduction of contract days could mean a reduction in pay for employees.
Finally, the committee worked to maintain consistent breaks as prior years.
