BGHS Student Wins Governor's Mansion Essay Contest

BGHS Sophomore Jessica Klusty, is a first place winner in the Kentucky Governor’s Mansion Centennial Celebration Essay Contest, Grades 10-12.

First Lady Jane Beshear will recognize Klusty at a celebration luncheon and awards ceremony on Wednesday, April 23 at the Governor’s Mansion in Frankfort. She will receive a certificate and $100 prize.

Winning essays will be on display the day of the luncheon and following the event, the work becomes part of the permanent collection of the Governor’s Mansion where it will be displayed as part of the Mansion’s Centennial year celebration.

Alumni Association Announces 2014 Hall of Honor

The Bowling Green High School Alumni Association has announced the Class of 2014 inductees to the BGHS Hall of Honor. Honorees will be formally inducted at the twenty-third annual Hall of Honor Celebration to be held Saturday, April 26, 2014 in the Commons of Bowling Green High School. An informal reception will begin at 5:00 p.m. with dinner served at 6:00 p.m. The program will begin at approximately 7:00 p.m.

BGHS Ranked Among America's Most Challenging High Schools

The Washington Post’s education columnist Jay Mathews has been ranking the most challenging schools in the country and the D.C. region for 16 years. There are more than 1,900 schools on the America’s Most Challenging High Schools 2014 list, including Bowling Green High School. BGHS is ranked 9th among the 15 Kentucky schools on the list and currently ranks 739th in America.

Final Two Make-Up Days Set

The Bowling Green City School District has missed five school days this year due to inclement weather. Three of those days have been made up using designated make-up days in the school calendar. BGISD will make up the additional two days missed by being in session Friday, April 18 and Friday, May 23, both also designated make-up days in the 2013-14 calendar approved in December 2012. Friday, May 23rd will be the last day of school for students. The BGHS Class of 2014 Commencement Ceremony will be held Sunday, May 25 at 2:00 p.m. and Closing Day for all BGISD Employees will be Tuesday, May 27.

School Computer Lab Hours Extended

School computer labs are open afternoons and evenings for Bowling Green students wishing to complete school work or projects. Students may visit any school lab (not only their home school) and log in using a student username and password. The District's Acceptable Use Policy applies. Primary students must be accompanied by an adult.
