ESPN 1450 to Broadcast Purple Athletics
Bowling Green High School and Commonwealth Broadcasting have signed a three-year agreement making Bowling Green’s ESPN 1450 the flagship station of the Purples.
ESPN 1450 will broadcast BGHS athletic events including BGHS football and boy’s basketball home, away, and post season games, plus girl’s basketball home games and away double-headers. The agreement also features halftime interviews with school representatives promoting Bowling Green City School District events and accomplishments.
Principal Gary Fields says, “We are excited the ESPN 1450 has committed to being the voice of the Purples. They have an excellent track record of promoting high school athletics in South Central Kentucky. Also, this agreement recognizes the outstanding girl’s basketball program at BGHS and will provide well deserved coverage of our girl’s games this season.”
Girl’s Coach LaVonda Johnson says, “We are honored that ESPN 1450 has agreed to broadcast our games this season. As we attempt to defend district and regional titles, we realize it will not be an easy task and that our coaches and players will have to work very hard each and every day to meet the challenges of the upcoming season.”
The first Purples broadcast on ESPN 1450 will be Saturday, August 21st when the BGHS football team opens their season playing in the Rafferty Bowl at WKU.
