Welcome to my webpage! Fall 2014 I will begin my 13th year to teach health sciences. I am a 1971 graduate of Warren East High School. I received my Associate Degree in Nursing and became a registered nurse in 1973 at the age of 19. In 1994 I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree and my Career Technical Education Degree in 2005. Throughout my nursing career I have had work experience in many settings including long term care, acute care, rehabilitation, consulting and state peer review. Beginning in the first grade I knew that I wanted to be a nurse. In 2002 I felt called to education and was hired by the Warren County School System to develop their health science program. After teaching four years in the Warren County School System I transferred to the Warren County Area Technology Center and began their health sciences program. Seven years ago when the health sciences teacher position came open at Bowling Green High I applied and was hired. I LOVE being a PURPLE. The school truly is one big family; supporting and nurturing each other to be the best we can be. It is my mission as the health sciences instructor at Bowling Green High School to enthusiastically provide encouragement, instruction, and motivation to empower students with the courage, knowledge, and inner strength to enable them to make life style choices that will help them to be all they are meant to be both professionally and personally.
My son Justin graduated from Bowling Green High in 1997. I am married to Philip Sowders and together we own Sowders Insurance Agency. Philip is Scoutmaster of Troop 202. Crockpot, my pet rabbit, helps me to unwind when I get home in the evening by playing ball and hopping around the lawn....he hops...I walk and run.
