After graduating from Bowling Green High School in 1989 and completing her
B.A. in English at Western Kentucky University in 1993, Janet Martin taught
conversational English in Seoul, South Korea for a year. Upon returning to
Kentucky, she taught English and Drama in Warren County for 11 years before
joining the Purple Faculty in 2006.
Mrs. Martin completed her Masters in Education, also at Western, and
participated in the 1998 WKU Writing Project and the 2003 and 2006 WKU
Advanced Writing Projects.
In 2004, Mrs. Martin earned the distinction "National Board Certified
Teacher" by the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards after she
completed a lengthy and rigorous certification process.
In addition to her classroom responsibilities, Janet has facilitated
professional development on Portfolio and On-Demand Writing, and Education-Related Technology.
Now in her seventh year on the BGHS faculty, Mrs. Martin is teaching English
III and IV and serving on various standards and writing related committees.
With interests in singing, playing flute, reading, and sign language, Janet
resides in Bowling Green with her husband and three sons.
To prepare students to meet the reading and writing challenges they'll face
in their post-secondary careers and educational pursuits.
