*Daily Schedule: In this envelope, you will find a specific breakdown of our day. The school day is from 8:10 to 2:45. Our doors will open each morning at 7:20 and your child will be counted tardy if she/he arrives after 8:10.
*Dismissal: You may choose for your child to be a car rider, day can van rider, bus rider, walker, parent pick-up, or to attend the after-school program in the afternoons. (“Parent pick-up” students meet an adult at the front door who is accompanying them on the walk home. A “parent pick-up” student may not meet his/her parent at the front door and then walk to a car parked nearby the school grounds.) Dismissal begins daily at 2:45.
*Lunch and Snack Time: Lunch will be from 11:10-11:35 this year. Every student enrolled at T.C. Cherry will receive free lunch and breakfast thanks to a special program we are participating in this year. You are more than welcome to eat with your child. An adult lunch is $3.25. Due to the fact that Kindergarten eats earlier in the day, most children get hungry at the end of the day. If possible, we like to provide them with snacks daily. We ask that the parents send in snacks for the whole class, so every student can enjoy them. This is optional and not mandatory for parents to do this.
*Rules and Expectations: High expectations are a top priortity at T.C. Cherry as well as in my classroom. Your child will be practicing the 7 Habits of Healthy Kids. Please reinterate how important it is to be a leader and follow the guidelines for success. We have a very supportive staff and student population who believe strongly in our guidelines. Your help and support is much appreciated. The seven habits of healthy kids are 1) Be Proactive 2) Begin With the End in Mind 3) Put First Things First 4) Think Win-Win 5) Seek First to Understand then to be Understood 6) Synergize 7) Sharpen the Saw.
*Discipline Policy: We will use the clip up clip down system. Please refer to the Clip-chart packet in your envelope for more information. Please sign or initial nightly so that I know you have touched base with your child regarding the choice s/he made that day. Remember, all clothespins will be moved back to green for the next day so that each day will be a fresh start.
Your child’s fun folder will be their homework folder will be their homework folder. This folder is for homework only. It will be sent home on Monday’s and returned on Friday’s. Your child will have 5 full school days/nights to complete their homework. Remember, homework goes home on Monday’s and returns to school on Friday’s! :)
Your child’s blue folder will come home with your child every night. On the left side, you see papers that are left at home. These will mostly be graded classwork or newsletter. On the right side you will see papers that need to go right back to school the next day. These are papers that need a parent signature such as the Clip Chart System (remember to sign or initial nightly), field trip information, or any party information.
*Communication: I will be sending home a newsletter every month for both Kindergarten classes. Biweekly a newsletter will be updated online on my teacher website. These are always full of important reminders and announcements as well as an overview of what we are learning. More can be found on our class website which you can find linked to T.C. Cherry’s webpage. Feel free to call me at school, 746-2230 or email me at Jennifer.Thompson@bgreen.kyschools.us, or send a note anytime you want additional information inside your child’s blue folder on the right side.
*Important Forms- Please be aware of the forms in this envelope that you will need to look over and return to school as soon as possible. Don’t delay in returning them. Your child will not be permitted to log on to the computer or have his/her photos added to my class website until the appropriate forms are on file. This is also necessary step to allow your child to check out books from the school library.
I am so excited and honored to be your child’s teacher this year. Make sure to check out my About Me page as well as my Kindergarten aid so you can get to know us before the school year starts. With your support, I know this year is going to be a successful first year for your child. Thank you for all you do.
