Dear Student and Family,
Welcome to the fifth grade and my class!! I can’t believe the summer has gone by so quickly, but I am very excited about the upcoming school year and all the exciting learning that will take place. I am looking forward to the opportunity to work with your child. It is going to be a year full of learning and fun!!
There are three fifth grade teachers. I will be teaching science, Mrs. Fane will be teaching math and Mrs. Wilder will be teaching social studies. Each teacher will teach reading, spelling and language arts to her homeroom class.
The fifth grade year is an important year because students are assessed in the areas of reading, math, social studies, and on-demand writing during spring K-PREP testing. This is also a time when students are beginning to prepare for their transition to middle school. It is important that we work together in order for your child to achieve his/her best.
In order to accomplish everything, I expect each of you to put forth your best EFFORT at all times. This means following McNeill rules as well as our classroom rules and completing assignments on time. Students, it is your responsibility to write your work down in your assignment book, get your work completed and turned it in at the assigned time. If all these things take place, the learning will be limitless!
You will be receiving more information in the upcoming days but hopefully this will help us all get acquainted and ready for a successful school year. Once again, welcome to my class! I am looking forward to getting to know each of you and your families.
Mrs. Elizabeth Riggs, EdS.
