Mr. Briley is currently in his 30th year in teaching and 28th year as the Director of Bands for Bowling Green City Schools. He and Ms. Christi Shores team-teach approximately 300 students in grades 6-12. Bowling Green Band students consistently represent BGHS and BGJHS in the Third District All-District Band, KMEA All-State Band, WKU Honors Band, and the Third District Solo and Ensemble Festival. The Bowling Green High School Band also received the honor to perform at the Kentucky Music Educators Association convention in 2009.
In his 30th year as a member of the Kentucky Music Educators Association, Mr. Briley has served on the State Marching Band Board of Control and as served twice as the Third District president. He is also a member of the International Bandmasters Fraternity Phi Beta Mu, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, American School Bandmasters Association, Third District Band Directors Association, MENC, NEA, and KEA. He has been named the Kentucky Music Educators Association's Third District High School Teacher of the Year for 1997 and 2009, and Kentucky Music Educators Association's State High School Teacher of the Year for 2009.
Mr. Briley obtained his Bachelor of Music Education Degree as well as a Master’s Degree in Music from Western Kentucky University. In his free time, he continues his love of music, playing trumpet with the Ernie Small Blues Band and the Lost River Big Band. Mr. Briley and his wife Christy have three children: Kendall, Nathan, and Payton.
