Health Sciences Introduction is generally the first course in the Health Science program. This one-credit course provides a foundation of core knowledge common to all health careers. The student will be able to build upon this knowledge as progress is made toward the next step in developing skills. The course will provide reliable and realistic information about health science careers and will enable the student to make informed decisions about career choice, the workplace and post-secondary opportunities. Tasks are taken from the National Health Care Foundation Standards and Accountability Criteria, the Kentucky Tech Curriculum and the Health Science Program of Studies Implementation Manual. Workplace readiness, leadership and transition skills that are transferable across jobs and occupations will be incorporated throughout the course. All aspects of the health care industry are emphasized as students enter the exciting and ever-changing world of health science careers.
