In reading and math, students use Google Classroom and various other online resources to be engaged in learning. We use our math book and other resources I create or find to connect math standards to their learning. We have a heavy focus on number sense and having a solid understanding of the value of numbers and patterns. We spend a lot of time learning multiplication and divison facts in 3rd grade. We also focus on fractions, measurement/data, and geometry. The Google tools enhance their learning, and they enjoy using them. In reading, we spend a lot of time reading different novels together as a class, while learning about 3rd grade reading skills necessary to build good comprehension and and a strong foundation of vocabulary. We also use Scholastic's Storyworks Junior to connect learning to fiction and non-fiction reading standards. We have a Google Form reading response for a reading log that students fill out once a week to summarize something they are currently reading.
The sites below are for enrichment and support in reading and math. There are a few sites for students to explore science and social studies as well and of course, Brain Pop offers resources for all subjects. These sites offer great resources and my students know how to access the sites that require a username and password. These sites are a great way to encourage your child to be engaged from home.
