Assistive Technology (AT) includes includes assistive, adaptive, and rehabilitative devices for people with disabilities and helps them to access the same opportunities as everyone else. AT promotes greater independence by enabling people to perform tasks that they were formerly unable to accomplish, or had great difficulty accomplishing, by providing enhancements to or changed methods of interacting with the technology needed to accomplish such tasks.
The BGISD AT Team truly believes that the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is the best practice for educating all students. This practice is the framework for designing education to enable ALL individuals to gain knowledge, skills, and enthusiasm for learning. It reduces barriers to the curriculum while maintaining high achievement standards for all.
