Principal Jim Tinius has announced his upcoming retirement, effective June 30, 2014. Mr. Tinius has worked more than 30 years in education and served as Principal of Potter Gray Elementary for the last 12 years. Prior to becoming a principal, he spent seven years at Bowling Green High School, including time as a teacher, assistant principal and coach.
Tinius says, “My decision to retire was difficult because I truly enjoy each and every day at Potter Gray. I have been fortunate the last 19 years to work in an awesome school system; the last 12 years as Principal of a school with an excellent staff, supportive parents and children that enjoy coming to school, working hard, having fun and striving for excellence. I will miss being at Potter Gray, and look forward to continuing to support all efforts of Bowling Green City Schools.”
Superintendent Joe Tinius says, “We will miss the enthusiasm and intensity that Jim brought to work each and every day at both BGHS and Potter Gray. We wish him all the best and know that he will always be a Purple!”
In the coming weeks, Superintendent Tinius and the Potter Gray Council will begin working to find a successor. The process will begin with a meeting of the School Based Decision-Making (SBDM) Council to discuss requirements and responsibilities and develop a timeline for the selection process.
