Per KRS 158.160, parents and guardians are required to notify a student's school of a diagnosed medical condition that may threaten the safety of the student or others in the school, within 24 hours of the diagnosis.

The Bowling Green City School District confirmed two cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, November 19, 2020. School Health Professionals have worked with staff to determine there are no school contacts, students or employees, that will need to quarantine at this time. One Bowling Green High School student is confirmed positive who last attended school on Tuesday, November 17th, 2020. One BGISD Virtual Academy employee is confirmed positive who last attended school on November 18th. 

The Barren River District Health Department follows the Center for Disease Control’s guidelines for isolation and quarantine procedures. An individual who has been within six feet for a cumulative time of 15 minutes, regardless of mask wearing, is considered a contact. A contact to a confirmed COVID-19 case must quarantine for 14 days following the last exposure to the confirmed case.


November 18, 2020

The Bowling Green City School District confirmed two cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, November 18, 2020. School Health Professionals have worked with staff to notify two individuals considered school contacts, providing information about quarantining. One Bowling Green Junior High student is confirmed positive who last attended school on Tuesday, November 10th, 2020. There are two students considered school contacts to this case. One Bowling Green High School student is confirmed positive who last attended school on November 13th. There are no school contacts for this case.

November 17, 2020

Potter Gray Elementary confirmed two cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, November 17, 2020. School Health Professionals have worked with staff to determine there are no school contacts, students or employees, that will need to quarantine at this time.  One student that is confirmed positive last attended school on November 6th, one student that is confirmed positive last attended school on November 10th.

The Barren River District Health Department follows the Center for Disease Control’s guidelines for isolation and quarantine procedures. An individual who has been within six feet for a cumulative time of 15 minutes, regardless of mask wearing, is considered a contact. A contact to a confirmed COVID-19 case must quarantine for 14 days following the last exposure to the confirmed case.

Effective immediately, local health departments will no longer gather information on or communicate with contacts of a confirmed case of COVID-19. Additionally, local health departments will no longer provide individual release from quarantine documentation for contacts. Instead, local health departments will provide standardized documentation to schools, employers, and other entities to educate and guide them in the safe return of persons to these environments. Individual release from isolation for confirmed cases of COVID-19 will continue to be provided by the local health department.


November 16, 2020

The Bowling Green City School District reports seven cases of COVID-19 on Monday, November 16, 2020: four employees and three students. School Health Professionals have worked with staff to notify all individuals considered school contacts, providing information about quarantining. The total number of individuals needing to quarantine may be updated when the Barren River District Health Department completes official contact tracing.

  • One Bowling Green Junior High student is confirmed positive who last attended school on Thursday, November 12, 2020. There are three students considered school contacts to this case.

  • One McNeill Elementary student that is confirmed positive last attended school on November 5, 2020. There are no school contacts with this case.

  • One employee is confirmed positive who last worked at McNeill Elementary on Friday, November 13. There are two students considered school contacts to this case. 

  • One Potter Gray employee is confirmed positive that last attended school on November 13, 2020. There are seven school contacts to this case: four students and three staff members.

  • One Bowling Green High School student that is confirmed positive last attended school on November 6th. There are no school contacts for this case.

  • Two BGISD Virtual Academy employees are confirmed positive. Both last worked on Friday, November 13th. There are no school contacts to these cases.

Bowling Green Junior High confirmed one case of COVID-19 on Friday, November 13, 2020. School Health Professionals worked with staff to notify two individuals identified as school contacts, providing information about quarantining. The total number of individuals needing to quarantine may be updated when the Barren River District Health Department completes official contact tracing. The student that is confirmed positive last attended school November 10th, and will not return until the Barren River District Health Department has determined they meet all guidelines to return.

School Health Professionals have worked with staff to notify all individuals considered school contacts, providing information about quarantining. The total number of individuals needing to quarantine may be updated when the Barren River District Health Department completes official contact tracing.

  • One BGHS student that is confirmed positive last attended school on November 3, 2020.

  • Two BGHS students that are confirmed positive last attended school on November 9, 2020.

  • One BGHS student that is confirmed positive last attended school on November 10, 2020.

  • The BGJHS student that is confirmed positive last attended school on November 10, 2020. There are nine contacts to this case that have been notified to quarantine.

  • The PBC student that is confirmed positive last attended school on November 10, 2020. There are four students considered school contacts to this case that have been notified to quarantine.

  • The Potter Gray employee that is confirmed positive last attended school on November 11, 2020.

The Bowling Green City School District confirmed two cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, November 10, 2020. One student confirmed positive is enrolled in the BGISD Virtual Academy. This student has not attended school in person, nor participated in extracurricular activities. One student that is confirmed positive is enrolled at Dishman McGinnis Elementary and last attended school on November 5th. One employee at Dishman McGinnis has been identified as a school contact in this case, and has been notified with information about quarantining.

November 9, 2020

The Bowling Green City School District reported eight cases of COVID-19 on Monday, November 9, 2020. Seven are students at Bowling Green High School. One is a student at McNeill Elementary. School Health Professionals have worked with staff to notify all individuals considered school contacts, providing information about quarantining. The total number of individuals needing to quarantine may be updated when the Barren River District Health Department completes official contact tracing.

  • One student at BGHS that is confirmed positive last attended school on October 30. There are no school contacts for this case.

  • Four students at BGHS are confirmed positive that last attended school on November 4. There are a total of 12 school contacts: one employee, and 11 students due to extracurricular activities with these cases.

  • One BGHS student confirmed positive last attended school on November 6. There are no school contacts for this case.

  • One W. R. McNeill Elementary student that is confirmed positive last attended school on November 6. There are no school contacts for this case.

The Bowling Green City School District confirmed four cases of COVID-19 on Friday, November 6, 2020. Three are students at Bowling Green High School that last attended school on Wednesday, November 4th. Based on participation in extracurricular activities, 36 BGHS students have been identified as contacts to these three cases, and have been notified with information about quarantining. The fourth positive case confirmed today is an employee at Potter Gray Elementary. There are no school contacts at Potter Gray that will need to quarantine at this time. The total number of individuals needing to quarantine may be updated when the Barren River District Health Department completes official contact tracing.

The employee that is confirmed positive last attended school on Monday, November 2, however will not return until the Barren River District Health Department has determined they meet all guidelines to return.

One student that is confirmed positive last attended school on October 21st, the second student confirmed positive last attended on October 23rd. Neither will return until the Barren River District Health Department has determined they meet all guidelines to return.

  • A Bowling Green High School student is confirmed positive who last attended school on Friday, October 23, 2020. Three school contacts have been notified and are now quarantining.

The Bowling Green City School District has confirmed three new cases of COVID-19, with one student and two employees testing positive for the coronavirus since the last school day on Friday, October 2nd. There are no school contacts for these cases, students or employees, that will need to quarantine at this time. 

  • A Bowling Green High School student is confirmed positive that last attended school on Thursday, October 1.

  • Two BGHS employees are confirmed positive that last attended school on Friday, October 2.

*UPDATE: On Monday, October 12, Parker-Bennett-Curry Elementary confirmed a student was positive for COVID-19. The information was incorrect. The student is quarantining due to a household contact, but is not currently positive for the virus.

Bowling Green High School confirmed one case of COVID-19 on Thursday, October 1, 2020. School Health Professionals have worked with staff to determine there are no school contacts, students or employees, that will need to quarantine at this time. However, the total number of individuals needing to quarantine may be updated when the Barren River District Health Department completes official contact tracing. The student that is confirmed positive last attended school on September 24th, and will not return until the Barren River District Health Department has determined they meet all guidelines to return.

The total number of individuals needing to quarantine may be updated when the Barren River District Health Department completes official contact tracing. The employee that is confirmed positive last attended school on September 25th. This individual will not return until the Barren River District Health Department has determined they meet all guidelines to return.

School Health Professionals have worked with staff to notify eight individuals identified as school contacts, providing each information about quarantining. The total number of individuals needing to quarantine may be updated when the Barren River District Health Department completes official contact tracing. The employee that is confirmed positive works district wide and last attended school on September 22nd. This individual will not return until the Barren River District Health Department has determined they meet all guidelines to return.

School health professionals have worked with staff to notify one student identified as a school contact, providing information about quarantining. The total number of individuals needing to quarantine may be updated when the Barren River District Health Department completes official contact tracing.

  • One student is confirmed positive at Bowling Green High School, who last attended school on September 15th.

  • One student is confirmed positive at Potter Gray Elementary, who last attended school on September 22nd.

These individuals will not return to school until all Barren River District Health Department Return to School Guidelines have been met.

The Bowling Green City School District has confirmed six positive cases of COVID-19 today, September 17, 2020. School health professionals have worked with staff to notify six individuals identified as school contacts, providing each information about quarantining. The total number of individuals needing to quarantine may be updated when the Barren River District Health Department completes official contact tracing.

  • One student is confirmed positive at Parker-Bennett-Curry Elementary, who last attended school on September 15th.

  • One student is confirmed positive at Dishman McGinnis Elementary, who last attended school today, September 17th.

  • Three students and one employee are confirmed positive at Bowling Green High School. The three students last attended school on September 10th. The employee last attended on September 4th. 

These individuals will not return to school until all Barren River District Health Department Return to School Guidelines have been met.

The total number of individuals needing to quarantine may be updated when the Barren River District Health Department completes official contact tracing.

  • Two employees are confirmed positive at Bowling Green Junior High, both last attended school on September 15th.

These individuals will not return to school until all Barren River District Health Department Return to School Guidelines have been met.

An individual who has been within six feet for at least 15 minutes, regardless of mask wearing, is considered a contact. A contact to a confirmed COVID-19 case must quarantine for 14 days following the last exposure to the confirmed case.


September 15, 2020

There has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 at Dishman McGinnis Elementary School, today, September 15, 2020. School Health Professionals have worked with staff to determine there are no school contacts, students or employees, that will need to quarantine at this time. However, the total number of individuals needing to quarantine may be updated when the Barren River District Health Department completes official contact tracing. The employee that is confirmed positive last attended school on September 14, and will not return until the Barren River District Health Department has determined they meet all guidelines to return.

September 14, 2020

The Bowling Green City School District has confirmed three positive cases of COVID-19 today, September 14, 2020. School health professionals have worked with staff to notify 13 students identified as school contacts, providing each information about quarantining. The total number of individuals needing to quarantine may be updated when the Barren River District Health Department completes official contact tracing.

  • One student confirmed positive at T. C. Cherry Elementary, who last attended school on September 14th.

  • One student confirmed positive at Dishman McGinnis Elementary, who last attended school on September 10th,

  • One student confirmed positive at Bowling Green Junior High, who last attended school on September 2nd.

  • Potter Gray Elementary confirmed one employee positive for COVID-19 who last attended school on September 8th.

  • Bowling Green High School confirmed one student positive for COVID-19, who last attended school on September 3rd.

September 3, 2020

Bowling Green High School, Parker-Bennett-Curry, and Dishman McGinnis Elementary Schools have new confirmed cases of COVID-19 today, September 3, 2020. 

  • Bowling Green High School confirmed one student and one staff member positive. The student last attended school on Monday, August 31, 2020. The employee last reported to work on September 3.

  • Parker-Bennett-Curry confirmed one employee positive, who last reported to work September 2. 

  • Dishman McGinnis also confirmed one employee is positive for COVID-19, who also last reported to work September 2. 


School Health Professionals have worked with staff to determine there are a total of five school contacts with these cases in the district, and school officials have contacted each individual to provide information about quarantining. A person who has been within six feet for at least 15 minutes, regardless of mask wearing, is considered a contact. The total number of individuals needing to quarantine may be updated as the Barren River District Health Department completes official contact tracing. 

None of the individuals confirmed positive, nor those in quarantine will return to school until all Return to School Guidelines have been met. September 1, 2020

Bowling Green Junior High and Dishman McGinnis Elementary School have each confirmed one new positive case of COVID-19 today, September 1, 2020. Dishman McGinnis confirmed an employee is positive, who last reported to work yesterday. Bowling Green Junior High has confirmed one student positive, who last attended school on Wednesday, August 26th. 

School Health Professionals have worked with staff in both schools to determine there are no school contacts for either case, however the total number of individuals needing to quarantine may be updated as the Barren River District Health Department completes official contact tracing. The individuals confirmed positive will not return to school until all Return to School Guidelines have been met.

August 31, 2020

Bowling Green Junior High School confirmed one positive case of COVID-19 on August 31st. The student has not attended school this year, and will not attend in-person until the Barren River District Health Department has determined all guidelines have been met.


August 30, 2020

Bowling Green High School has confirmed two positive cases of COVID-19 today, August 30, 2020. School Health Professionals have worked with staff to notify six students and employees identified as school contacts, providing information about quarantining. The total number of individuals needing to quarantine may be updated as the Barren River District Health Department completes official contact tracing. 

One student that is confirmed positive last attended school on Wednesday, August 26th. The other student last attended school on Thursday, August 27th. Neither will return until the Barren River District Health Department has determined they meet all necessary guidelines.
