Bowling Green High School has hired Calvin Head to lead the Lady Purples Basketball Team. Head is a special education teacher in the school’s LEAD Academy and also serves as Assistant Athletic Director. He takes over the program with seven years experience as a girls basketball head coach, four years at Todd County Central and three at Russellville High School. Most recently at Russellville High School, he also coached softball for two years and served as the district’s middle and high school Athletic Director. He was named the 2016-17 4th Region Athletic Director of the Year.
Head states in his application that he intends for the Lady Purples Basketball Program to develop girls to be the best basketball players they can possibly be through 100% team effort. He believes the foundation of the program will be built on discipline, dedication, determination, and desire, including playing hard, aggressive defense, having sound fundamentals, being unselfish and also being in good physical shape. He also plans to improve the vertical alignment between the middle and high school girls basketball programs and build relationships with future Lady Purples.
Head acknowledges the great success of the Lady Purples program in recent years and shares that the upcoming year will be that of a re-tool or remodel with a priority of bonding the players and team together.
Congratulations, Coach Calvin Head.
