The College Knowledge class held the first weekly class on August 14, 2019, as 80 seniors finish their first full week in the BGHS College Cohort Pilot. The College Cohort is intended to prepare students for the post-secondary environment, while also adding rigor and opportunities to obtain college credit while seniors at Bowling Green High School.
College Cohort student schedules are designed to be similar to college/university schedules, with four 85-minute core courses that meet twice per week, plus opportunities for electives, work-based learning, and/or additional online courses. All core academic courses are taught by BGHS teachers and are eligible for college credit, either through Dual Credit, Advanced Placement or CLEP Exam. The schedule also includes time for counseling, college visits, job shadowing, internships, as well as ACT prep, college writing support, and more.
The weekly College Knowledge class will focus on skills such as time management, writing, goal setting, planning, public speaking, and college finance.
All have Dual Credit, Advanced Placement, or CLEP Exam opportunities for college credit.
