The Bowling Green Board of Education approved the 2017-18 academic calendar on Monday, December 12, 2016. The first day of school for students will be August 9, 2017. Fall break will be the first full week of October, and spring break the first full week of April. There will be two professional development days for employees on March 15 and 16, and the tentative last day for students on May 23, 2018.
The calendar committee received over 1,300 responses to the calendar survey administered in November. The calendar approved by the Board of Education includes 10.5 weeks of summer vacation, a five-day fall break, and more school days in May during the national Advanced Placement testing window. The March 15 – 16 dates are two of four required non-school-day professional development days, they also overlap with the WKU spring break, which was a request noted in the calendar survey.
