Second Quarter Honor Students Recognized Fifth grade honor roll second quarter 2019

Students from third, fourth, and fifth grades who earned a place on the Honor Roll were announced and celebrated on Tuesday, January 22 in front of the study body.  Students were recognized who had earned all A's and B's and those who had earned all A's.  Students were awarded a certificate and a free meal courtesy of our sponsors: McDonald's, Taco Bell, and Penn Station.  Please check the newsletter posted on the website for all the students' names and the photo gallery for all three groups of students.

Spelling Bee Winner Crowned Christian and Joel

PBC conducted its annual school-wide Spelling Bee on January 18, 2019 in front of an audience of students, teachers, and parents.  Twenty-one students participated after placing in the top four spellers in their homerooms.  Congratulations go to Christian M. for winning and Joel for being the runner-up.  Christian will represent PBC in the district-wide spelling bee on January 29.  Joel will serve as alternate if Christian is unable to participate.  Kudos to everyone who participated.

Student Tops 100 AR Points Dorcas

Congratulations to Dorcas for topping 100 AR Points!  She has been the AR leader in points consistently for the last several months.  Having earned over ten points in the last week alone, there is no limit to what she can do.  Ms. Eason, the librarian, is very proud of her.  "Dorcas set a goal, went after it, and is still reaching for more.  She is a reading queen!  I'm very proud of her."

Winter Break Reading Contest Winners Announced Meijour

Congratulations to these students who won the Snow Bingo contest for their reading over winter break.  Grand prize winners were Amina, Meijour, and Dardah.  Runners-up were Aisha, Rebeca, and Alma.  Thanks to all who read and shared their reading while away from school.

2019 - 2020 Calendar Approved

The Bowling Green Board of Education has approved the 2019-2020 School Calendar. The first day for students will be August 8, 2019, with Fall Break October 7 - 11, Winter Break, December 23 - January 3, Spring Break March 30 - April 3, and the last day for students on May 21, 2020. Embracing Empathy Makes a Difference January Empathy students

The students recognized for embracing empathy are kind and considerate.  Thinking of others makes a difference in their classrooms as their teachers recounted their stories and gestures of kindness.  We salute these students for leading by example and making their school better.

STLP Teams Advance to State Competition STLP

Two of PBC's STLP teams advanced to the state competition in Lexington.  Competing in the regionals held at Diddle Arena on the campus of WKU, the Google Gurus and the PBC Book Show scored high enough to advance.  The Google team worked with teachers at PBC to set up their new Google site.  The Book Show created book talks to share with the school on a private You Tube channel to encourage reading.  Both groups are continuing to work towards completing their projects in the spring.  Congratulations these students:  Dardah, Aisha A., Natalia, Symone, Julian, and Amina who will go to the state competition.  

Ambassadors of-the-Month Recognized for Leadership December 2018 Ambassadors

December's Ambassadors of-the-Month were honored during morning assembly on December 14 for their leadership, academics, and kindness.  Congratulations to these students:  Qatada, Aniah, Digne, Haneen, Conner, Ruth, Acelynn, Amina M., Stacy, Chris W., Aisha A., Israel, Dardah, Chabrin, Betania, Trevy, Baneen, and Dorcas.  They will celebrate with a pizza party.
