BGHS & BGJHS Forensics Teams Repeat Regional Championships BGHS and BGJHS Speech Regional Champions 2017

Both the Bowling Green High School and Bowling Green Junior High forensics teams claimed 2017 Regional Championship titles at the Regional Speech Tournament at Warren East High School on Saturday. This marks the 4th straight year BGJHS and the 2nd BGHS have earned the top spots. 

1-Hour Delay: January 6, 2017

Bowling Green City Schools will operate on a 1-hour delay on Friday, January 6, 2017.

2017-18 Non-Resident Application Deadline: April 15, 2017

Families living in Bowling Green and Warren County but outside the boundaries of the Bowling Green City School District may apply for their children to attend BGISD as non-resident students. An agreement between Warren County Public Schools and Bowling Green City Schools allows state funding per child for up to 690 non-resident students to attend BGISD for the 2017-18 school year. The deadline to apply is April 15, 2017. Click here for more information.

17 Seventh Grade Students Earn Recognition for ACT Scores

Seventeen 7th graders have earned ACT scores that rival or surpass high school juniors or seniors and have received recognition by the Duke Talent Identification Program (Duke TIP). These academically talented students from Bowling Green Junior High took the ACT College Entrance Exam earlier this year sitting alongside older peers.

Parents and guardians of students in the Bowling Green Independent School District have the opportunity to complete most “back-to-school” paperwork online. Online registration is provided through Infinite Campus Parent Portal and eliminates the need for paper forms such as the annual enrollment form, school/district field trip permission, release agreements, etc.

Boys Tennis Tryouts

6th Grade Jumpstart Dates

All incoming 6th graders are invited to Jumpstart to 6th Grade at BGJHS this Summer! Jumpstart is an opportunity for students to become familiar with the layout of the Jr. High, meet some teachers, make new friends, and learn about the fun you will have in 6th grade!  A light breakfast and lunch will be served.

Forensics Teams Compete at UK; Prepare for Vette City Classic Nov. 19

Both the BGHS Speech & Debate Team and the BGJHS Forensics Team competed at the University of Kentucky in the Paul Laurence Dunbar Tournament on Saturday, November 12.  The BGJHS team finished 3rd in their season opener among the 11 junior high teams. BGHS came in 2nd among 12 high school teams.

Dodge the Hunger Games

For the fourth year in a row, the Youth Services Center is sponsoring a competition to encourage students to donate food items.  To kick things off, students who win the Halloween Costume Contest will play against faculty and staff in the first dodgeball game on October 31st.

Forensics Team Places 1st in Small Team Division of Ky Educational Speech and Drama State Tournament BGJHS forensics team pictured with KESDA Executive Directors, Dr Edward Smith and Betsy Smith. 

Five members of the BGJHS Forensics Team won 1st place in the small team division and 6th place among all schools competing in the Kentucky Educational Speech and Drama Association State Tournament.

Beta Parent Night

Beta Parent Night for Beta Parents and Students will be held on Sunday, November 6th from 4pm-6pm in the BGJHS Cafeteria.  RSVP by November 1st to Ms. Rowe or Ms. Keith.

Choir Concert - November 7th

The Fall Choir Concert will be held on Monday, November 7th.  The 6th grade choir concert begins at 6:00 p.m. Students should report to the choir room at 5:45 p.m.  The 7th and 8th grade choir concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Students should report to the choir room at 7:00 p.m.  The attire is as follows:

BGJHS Math Counts Places Third at State

The BGJHS Math Counts team earned 3rd place overall at the State Mathcounts competition on Saturday, March 25th.  Samuel Chang placed 8th individually and earned a 4 year scholarship to the University of Kentucky or University of Louisville.  Jason Zhang placed 15th individually and Mei Fukushima placed 26th individually. This 3rd place finish is the highest finish for BGJHS in the past 18 years.

Team Members are Jason Zhang, Samuel Chang, Mei Fukushima, Harrison Gover, Sahil Chhabra, and Anmol Sandhu.

Veterans' Day Program - November 11th

BGJHS will honor our veterans during our Veterans' Day program on November 11th at 2 pm in the gym.

There will be a reception in the library from 1:15-1:45pm and we invite all Veterans to attend.
